Sayantan Datta (they/them) is an independent journalist who writes deeply-reported stories on gender, sexuality, caste, health and science. Their work has been supported by grants from the National Association for Science Writers, USA; the UK Research Initiative's Transforming Education for Sustainable Futures project; and the ReFrame Institute for Arts and Expression. They have been awarded the 13th Laadli Media and Advertising Award for Gender Sensitivity (2023) and the inaugural Sage-Ashoka Award for Critical Writing Pedagogies (2024). Their children's books, The Plant Whisperer and Grace, have been featured in the Tata Trust's Parag Honour List in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
